The Brief: There Is Now a Restaurant That Only Serves Pop-Tarts

Not So La La Land
Good news...kinda. With the Oscars this Sunday clearly Hollywood is on our minds, but a new study sheds light on what it's really like for women. The “2017 Hollywood Diversity Report,” analyzed 168 theatrical films released in 2015 and more than 1,200 television programs released during the 2014-15 season on broadcast, cable, digital and via syndication. Now TV continues to be a great place for women (hello TGIT!), but on film there is still a lot of work to be done. Women saw some progress as leads in scripted broadcast and cable TV shows, but even more so behind the scenes, especially on cable and digital programming. In scripted cable shows, women now account for 20.9 percent of show creators and for digital women were listed as creators of 20.4 percent of scripted shows on streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon. However in film it has gotten so bad that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has opened an investigation against the discrimination of female directors. Scavengers

Good news if you lose your keys on a regular basis like me and also don't feel like cleaning your apartment (also like me.) According to a new study, published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B and reported on by Seeker, it is easier to find your lost keys in a more cluttered area. Stay with me here. Basically when you lose something in your apartment before you start recreating the Wicked Witch "I'm melting" scene, check the messier areas in your apartment. Don't look at a clean area because you would have already spotted the item with your peripheral vision. Go for the super cluttered area that you wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole! They are probably there...along with your 8th grade retainer.

Pop To It

Breakfast is getting totally craycray. Last week we wrote about how oatmeal porn is becoming a thing on Instagram and now they have figured out how to make something that is super healthy unhealthy! Those junk cereals you had to beg your mom to eat growing up (unless you had a cool mom and not a regular mom) and had to listen to 20 minute lectures on about sugar and early onset diabetes and how you'll eventually lose your leg (was that just my family?) Well now they come in oatmeal form so they are totally healthy! Not really but a girl can dream. General Mills is making Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch oatmeal. I knew something was missing from my oatmeal and that was something was tiny marshmallows! The only problem is they're only available in Canada...as a limited-edition product. But luckily what we do have in the good ol' U.S. of A is Kellogg's new Pop-Tarts Cafe. The menu sounds like it was pretty much made for a 12 year old's sleepover (or me) as it consists of a personal Pop-Tart pizza, chili Pop-Tart fries and Pop-tarty tacos (yeah not sure how I feel about any of those.) I mean Pop-Tart Salad is fine, but Pop-Tart tacos are just crazy.

Emanuel administration clears bribe-paying red-light camera vendor to bid on city contracts

Mayor Rahm Emanuel's administration has reinstated the red-light camera vendor it fired after the firm was caught bribing its way into City Hall, making Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. once again eligible to pursue city contracts following a four-year suspension.
The designation of Redflex as a "responsible vendor" comes little more than two weeks after the firm agreed to pay the city $20 million to settle a lawsuit over the company's bribery scheme.
