המגזין השבועי של אתר בית חב"ד סליחה, אני מצטער קוראים וקוראות יקרים, איך אתם אוהבים את הסליחה שלכם?... האמת היא, שאף אחד לא ממש אוהב לבקש סליחה. זה לא נעים, זה קצת מבייש והרבה אנשים פשוט מעדיפים לדלג עליה. למה אנחנו צריכים לבקש סליחה? למה לא מספיק שנתעלם מהעבר ונתקדם הלאה? אחרי דקה של חשיבה נגלה שיש ב'בקשת הסליחה' משהו עמוק יותר... בהצהרה: "אני מצטער על מה שעשיתי" יש שני דברים – 1) 'חרטה על העבר', 2) 'קבלה על העתיד'. אני רוצה לסגור את הפרק הישן (שהיה לא כל-כך מוצלח) ולפתוח דף חדש (לעשות הכל שהעתיד יהיה הרבה יותר טוב). יום כיפור מתקרב, זה הזמן לבקש סליחה. לבקש סליחה מבורא העולם על חטאינו, לבקש סליחה מהאנשים שבהם פגענו... למרות שזה לרוב לא כל-כך נעים, הסליחה מביאה עמה תחושה של היטהרות. סליחה, חטאתי, אני לא רוצה לעשות זאת שוב, בעתיד אהיה אחרת, אני רוצה להיות קרוב אליך. ARE YOU PLANNING TO MEET WITH YOUR LAWMARKERS THIS WEEK?

It’s the first congressional recess since the inauguration, so that means your members of Congress are visiting their home districts to touch base with their constituents (or at least they should be) – a perfect opportunity to raise our voices. As the administration continues to push an agenda that threatens our health care, our communities, and our democracy, we need both Democratic and Republican legislators to firmly stand up to Trump and stand with the people they represent. Otherwise, they won’t have our vote when they’re up for re-election.So for #ResistanceRecess  this week, it’s time to really put on the pressure at the local level. Community members in cities across the country are flooding town halls and public listening sessions, or even creating their own local actions if town halls aren’t scheduled – making sure members of Congress know our concerns and that we’ll be holding them accountable if they don’t heed our demands. Make your voice heard. Attend a local Resistance Recess action near you! A town hall is a great time to get some detailed answers from your legislators about what they’re doing to protect our communities and ensure quality, affordable health care for all. Members of Congress need to address concerns about the health and safety of their constituents, including the GOP’s plan to gut the Affordable Care Act (ACA). A repeal of the ACA will not only take insurance away from 30 million Americans, but it will also give hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to the wealthy, insurance companies, and drug ​manufacturers, while eliminating tax credits for millions of working families. This attack on our health care is an attack on low-income workers, communities of color, women, and many others who currently benefit from key protections under the ACA. Our legislators need to have some backbone and resist an agenda driven by corporate greed and contempt for working people. That means ensuring a health care plan that serves everyone, not just wealthy special interests.Your attendance at a town hall or other recess event will add important pressure on lawmakers to fight for the people living in their states. After all, it’s their job. Hold your lawmakers accountable in your own community! Find a local Resistance Recess action happening near you this week. The whole reason that congressional recess exists is to make sure that legislators don’t lose touch with the concerns of their own constituents. It’s time we remind them who they serve.
