We’re in the thick of the fight. In the wee hours of Friday morning, the Senate confirmed Tom Price, a drug corporation insider, to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. This follows on the heels of votes to confirm a billionaire and a racist to Trump’s Swamp Cabinet. While the results are disappointing, the votes on these nominees show our resistance is working. Democrats went from falling in line behind Trump’s cabinet picks to opposing them almost unanimously. Two courts have blocked Trump’s Muslim ban and now the public resoundingly opposes it, too. That’s because of our massive resistance. Thank you for everything that you’re doing, from showing up at rallies and town halls, to writing your senators, to making phone calls. Let’s keep that resistance going in the fight for health care. People’s Action organizations, members, and other everyday people around the country are putting Republicans on the run. Last night, more than 1,000 Utahns grilled Rep. Jason Chaffetz at a town hall for not doing his job of investigating Trump, the least popular president in U.S. history.The Republicans know their plans for our health care are also deeply unpopular. That’s why they’re fleeing their own town halls. Now that Price is confirmed, Republicans will work relentlessly to repeal Obamacare and destroy Medicare and Medicaid. We can derail the Republican plan to destroy our health care system, if we work together. Pledge to be a health care champion today. Work with us to uphold the values we share. Together, we can ensure that every person in this country has the care they need. In the coming weeks, we will continue to find ways to take action together. At People’s Action, we believe that the fight to protect our health care is key to our opposition.We can win the world we need. That victory won’t come in a day, or in a week, or even in a year.
