Anyone else thirsty this Thursday?
How about a classy tea time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's new pop-up tea house (Pro-tip: the booze is on the roof)? We're all prepared for this totally boring, uneventful weekend... JKJK APRIL FOOLS Y'ALL, there's tons of sh*t going down. Have you noticed that while they were just a couple modest carts only a few years ago, The Halal Guys seem to have blown up? It's a thing. Still waiting for Whataburger to notice us, but in the meantime, Eggslut is gracing the East Coast with its presence. Yo, b*tch, there's an IRL Los Pollos Hermanos from 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul' popping up in NYC next week. Remember the floating park that bobbed around NYC last summer? It's back for the season, and it got Pretty Woman-ed. Speaking of green space, Red Hook is getting man-made hills installed that are not only pretty, but functional. They're perf for picnics but also generate power and block floods. This cosmetics company has a SoHo location that lets you create a custom lipstick shade– lol of course, we had to try it out. #spoilYourself
Tea for two, anyone? The Met is featuring a new pop-up cafe that serves tea straight from China as you feast your eyes on their new exhibit, “Age of Empires.” The cafe, located on the second floor, also serves cookies, cakes, pastries and coffee, incase tea isn’t your thang. The cafe opens April 3rd and will be open daily for the next three months. But you might want to head over to the Met before then: tomorrow and Saturday, composer Tan Dun of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” will be performing! READ MORE…

There’s nothing happening on April Fool’s weekend.
Just stay home and cry ‘cause it’s time to pay rent. Ha, ha, haaa...we wouldn’t do ya like that. We’ve got a rad list instead, so check it out: Wowfulls grand opening of mind-blowing desserts, the library’s After Hours: Women Marching Through History, International Pillow Fight Day throwing down in Washington Square Park, the Brooklyn Flea’s opening weekend, and moooore! You gotta— you gotta— just read it, I can’t even. It’s too good. READ MORE…

It’s about to get a little greener in the concrete jungle.
Red Hook, the largest housing development in Brooklyn, is on its way to getting 14 man-made hills, known as Lily Pads. The project is being headed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and hopes to be the solution to future floods and other natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy, which left residents without heat or electricity for weeks. The hills not only act as blockades but also storage space for generators and other power-saving machinery. We’re a little more interested in their picnic potential, but that’s just us.READ MORE…
They call it the Fairfax— why, we don’t know. But the chef behind it, Alvin Cailan, is in town dishing up it and other breakfast delights.
And it’s all going down starting tomorrow, when you can find the L.A. chef and his creations at Chefs Club Counter. Check this out: French eggs, caramelized onions, bacon, cheddar, chives, and sriracha mayo are all placed on a thick and hearty milk-based pain de mie roll. There’s also the Soho Salmon, duck rice, and jambon de Paris. That’s all exotic and intriguing enough to need further investigation, right? Find ‘em at the corner of Spring and Lafayette Streets, and come hungry. READ MORE…
It’s a boat, it’s an island, it’s a...floating park? Ehhh, all of the above?
This year, we’re getting an 80-foot barge decked out in apple trees and a perennial garden, so can the beach trip and the orchard camping trip— we’ve got the perfect day outing right here. You can find the floating cornucopia just offshore Manhattan from next month to fall, and when you go be sure to pull some produce up by the roots to take home. The visit’s free, the fruits and veggies you can pick are free, and the skyline view is double-free. Dope all around, right? READ MORE…
Attention lovers of everything “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”: mark your calendars for Sunday, April 9th, and Monday, April 10th, cause there’s a new pop-up restaurant coming to town, and it’s right up your alley.
Well, actually, you’re probably gonna need public transit to get there, but regardless, you can eat at Los Pollos Hermanos IRL. This is NYC’s second “Breaking Bad”-themed restaurant, and our city is LPH’s last stop on it’s tour. It will be poppin’ up at 243 Pearl Street... see you there! READ MORE…
The Halal Guys (yes, THE halal guys) are at it again!
They’ve been in the biz for three decades now and have no plans of stopping, but are in fact still growing their enterprise. Their signature rice platters and gyro sandwiches are already at 35 storefronts, but they plan on going global— very soon. Read more to see how the company Fransmart is helping them make the leap via franchising, and learn a thing or two about what it takes to turn a local success into a world-wide feeding frenzy. Hint, it involves authenticity and elbow grease. READ MORE…
