Trumpcare has arrived and here’s what you need to know. Unsurprisingly, the plan breaks every promise Trump made about health care. It will also hurt some of America’s most vulnerable members — and everyone, really. Even some Republicans are panicking
…Then there’s Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), who thinks Trumpcare will do little more than force Americans to decide between health care and a new iPhone.

Faith groups are coming out strongly against the new Muslim ban. And while Iraq was removed from the list, its neediest members are still banned.
In other Islamophobic news, the administration wants to track “honor killings” by Muslim men, while ignoring the real violence men do to women regardless of religion.

How're ya doing today, NYC?
ICYMI, Emma Watson scattered books around the NYC subway, in a very Hermione-ish move.
We've also discovered the WORST part of being single in NYC, and of course, it involves Trader Joe's.
Do you think you could go a whole week without social media? One of our writers tried it and... well, it went as well as you'd think.
Skip the crowds on The Great White Way in favor of this new groovy off-Broadway musical, The View UpStairs.
Have you tried to make sense of the American Health Care Act (Trumpcare) yet? We can help you sort through the jargon a li'l bit.
As if you need a reason to celebrate pie, National Pi Day is coming up, along with a couple other unique holidays.
We're going to have to say "pass" to this $18 cup of coffee, but apparently, other New Yorkers are game.
If you notice a significant lack of estrogen in your workplace tomorrow, NBD, there's just an international strike going down.

Single Struggles
Part of a couple that holds hands and giggles together while perusing your local Trader Joe’s?

We’re looking at you!! Well, at least Marshall Bright is, in this Refinery29 piece on being single in NYC.

Spoiler alert: the only time it really gets to her isn’t at the bar on a Saturday night, or at date night at her favorite restaurant (eating alone, thank you very much) but in the aisles of the grocery store.

Sounds a little strange, but totally worth the read. READ MORE…

Make America Read Again
This just in: Emma Watson might actually think she’s Hermione Granger. Ahhh, we’re just teasing.

But the book nerd can be see at it again, hiding books around our very own subway system at an attempt to promote literacy and kindness.

Ms. Granger has made quite a few loops through the news cycle recently, largely in light of her premiere as Belle in the new ‘Beauty and the Beast’ remake, as well as her ‘controversial’ appearance on the cover of ‘Vanity Fair.’

All we have to say is we’re happy to see this video make the cut, and we’re happy to see her back at her bookish roots again. READ MORE…

Average Joe
You may remember a few weeks ago, we announced that Brooklyn continues to reign as the borough with the most expensive cup of coffee, introducing the new record of $18 a cup.

If you found yourself wondering ‘What in the world qualifies a cup of coffee to be priced so high,’ look no further.

From the Thrillist, Eliza Dumais breaks down exactly what goes into the $18 coffee, produced and sold by the Extraction Lab.

We still don’t see it becoming a ‘regular’ purchase (we can barely afford alcohol or like, healthcare, over here, okay?), but it definitely gave us more of an appreciation for the hype! READ MORE…

Trumpcare
Fair warning: it’s not exactly “explained”...but it’s definitely a valiant attempt.

Unfortunately, the really big questions like “Who does it cover?” and “How much will it cost?” cannot be answered yet.

What you can learn from this piece, however, is what’s happening with Medicaid, what aspects of Obamacare are not being trashed, and how all this will affect taxes.

At this point, it's hard to tell exactly how this might specifically affect us personally, so it's probably best to try and keep up! READ MORE…

Blast From the Past
This day and age, it can be hard for some of us to come to terms with the fact that LGBTQ clubs and cultural sanctuaries are still targets for hate crimes and mass-shootings.

Less than a year ago, Omar Mateen killed 49 people in at Pulse, an openly gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Back in 1973, there was an arson attack on the Upstairs Lounge, a gay bar in New Orleans that killed 32 people.

But New Yorkers can commemorate the lives lost in the hate-fueled attack by supporting this new off-Broadway musical, ‘The View Upstairs.’

Tickets to this moving (but seriously groovin') piece are on sale until May 21. READ MORE…

Every Dog Has Its Day
So, we're guessing you thought St. Patrick’s Day was the only holiday to celebrate in the month of March, right? WRONG.

There’s actually a bunch of pretty dope National Holidays happening this month, including National Cereal Day– because who doesn’t like cereal, and National Let’s Laugh Day– because who doesn’t need a good laugh.

So whether you’re a gamer, reader or just need an excuse to gorge on a specific type of food, March is the month for you! READ MORE…

Get in Formation
So by now, you’ve probably heard about the next event following the international Women’s March back in January: A Day Without A Woman.

In honor of International Women’s Day tomorrow, March 8th, women and their allies across the globe plan to participate in a strike.

As opposed to another march or rally, a strike highlights the role women play in all sectors of the modern-day socio-economic system.

...And all while receiving less monetary compensation and job security and more discrimination and harassment, just sayin'.

What a time to be a woman, as per usual.

Also there are a number of ways to participate, even if you can't afford to take the day off, so don't count yourself out yet! READ MORE…

#Unplugged
In honor of the National Day of Unplugging, one of our very own attempted to go a week without using social media... pretty crazy, right?

Especially as New Yorkers... like what else are we supposed to do with all that commute time besides refresh our Instagram feeds into oblivion?!

If anything, it would save us the daily annoyance of remembering that the feed isn’t even chronological anymore. #FirstWorldProblems.

Read about how it went for Breffni and possibly inspire your own hiatus over here! READ MORE…

Perhaps the most pressing crisis facing humanity is the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It is estimated that by 2050, 10 million people will die every year from resistant bacterial infections.
