Cabriolet rounds out the E-Class family The Mercedes E-Class is available in sedan, wagon and coupe form, but well-to-do fans of drop-top motoring were being (tragically) overlooked. Last Call! Explore Havana and the Cuban Countryside with The Nation

This is a pivotal time in Cuba’s history as it comes to terms with life after Fidel Castro and an uncertain new relationship with Washington. According to Nation contributor Peter Kornbluh, “one of the best ways to be an effective part of the effort to improve relations is to spend time in Cuba—while you still can.”
This is the last call to take advantage of an extremely limited number of spaces that remain on our newest Cuba itinerary. On this eight-night program we explore Havana and other Cuban cities, in addition to the island’s beautiful countryside, meeting with innovative community activists, documentary filmmakers, journalists, and architects, and attending private dance performances and even a Cuban béisbol game. During our visit, we’ll stop in the UNESCO World Heritage–designated city of Camagüey, with its unique labyrinthine streets; the stunning colonial city of Trinidad, also a UNESCO World Heritage–designated city; and the pristine beaches and coral reef of Jibacoa. We’ll also spend two nights in Havana, with day trips to Santa Clara and Matanzas and visits to the Che Guevara Mausoleum and the Bay of Pigs Museum. Beyond Havana, Cuba boasts rural as well as urban treasures: gorgeous architecture, vibrant art scenes, lush nature preserves, historical monuments, and, in the countryside, a pastoral lifestyle unchanged for decades.

The all-inclusive cost of this eight-night tour is $5,980 per person with double occupancy ($840 single supplement). This includes round-trip chartered airfare from Florida to Camagüey (returning from Havana) and two nights each in Camagüey, Trinidad, Havana, and Jibacoa.
Our Cuba trips are specially designed to provide unmatched access and insight. We believe that direct citizen-to-citizen engagement is one of the best ways to grow and enhance the relationship between our two countries, and we are committed to fostering a respectful dialogue and to the meaningful exchange of ideas. “These trips are important to educate ourselves to the realities of Cuba, for preserving our right to travel, and for effectively engaging in the coming debate over Cuba policy,” says Peter Kornbluh. We hope you will join us!

Dear Friend,

March will be a busy month for us at the Avila Foundation. In addition to the normal day-to-day function of the Avila Institute and Spiritualdirection.com, I will be giving two Into the Deep: Finding Peace through Prayer conferences on the east coast.

First, on Sunday, March 19th, I will be in Danbury, Connecticut at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Then, on Saturday, March 25th I will be in Tampa, Florida at Christ the King Catholic Church.

Both of these events will provide you with a clear and very practical understanding of the path to peace through ever-deepening prayer. The Lord has promised that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. He is faithful! I have no doubt you too will be blessed as have thousands who have engaged in these events and with the Avila Institute and SpiritualDirection.com.

The cost of attendance is $25 per person and you will leave with a free book and a bag of event materials including a free Mini-Course on Prayer that will encourage and refresh you after the event.

Seating is limited so don't wait to register. Register for the event HERE or go to www.SpiritualDirection.com/Events.

Here is a video from my latest series inspired by Into the Deep - it will give you a hint of some of what we will cover at Christ the King.
May God bless you as you seek Him, and I hope to see you in March!

Yours in Christ,

Dan Burke

Real People, Real Lives: The Harm Caused by Judge Gorsuch

Stop Gorsuch
On January 31, Donald Trump nominated Tenth Circuit Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court. In his tenure on the Tenth Circuit, Judge Gorsuch proved that he would fill Trump's judicial litmus test and have unconditional deference to executive authority. Gorsuch also left a trail of victims during his time on the Tenth Circuit, proving he will always put corporate interests above everyday people, that he doesn't care to see the perspectives of others, and that he will not protect the most vulnerable -- including children with disabilities, transgender women, and victims of excessive force and police brutality.
Gorsuch's record is appalling, and it is clear that he is NOT going to be a champion for our constitutional values on the Supreme Court. It is clear that he will not challenge Trump's dangerous and unconstitutional agenda. Read our report on the real people and real lives that were negatively impacted by Gorsuch's time on the Tenth Circuit court.
Since this nomination, we have dedicated significant time to opposing Gorsuch and engaging our activists in this fight. We need to keep up the drumbeat of opposition to Gorsuch and ensure that members of the Senate who will vote on this candidate hear not only our voices, but the voices of the real people harmed by Gorsuch's extremism.

Preventing a Trump Supreme Court

Throughout February, PFAW mobilized grassroots pressure on key senators to oppose Trump nominee Neil Gorsuch, we elevated the voices of people in Senate target states in the media, and we churned out the in-depth research and analysis so vital to exposing Gorsuch's extreme record and judicial philosophy. Here are just some examples:

Sessions Must Recuse Himself RESIGN!

sessions
Earlier in the month we were demanding that Attorney General Jeff Sessions recuse himself from any Russia related investigations due to his close ties to the Trump campaign and administration. Explosive reports came out from The Washington Post that Jeff Sessions spoke with a Russian official twice during the 2016 campaign, and then lied about it to the Senate Judiciary Committee during his confirmation hearing. Recusal is not enough -- Sessions must resign as Attorney General!

REPORT: Trump Attacks on Judiciary Could Be Religious Right’s Biggest Payoff

Trump and courts
Donald Trump’s advisor Stephen Miller, who made waves when he asserted that “the powers of the president to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned,” did not get this line out of nowhere. It echoes a refrain from the Religious Right’s leaders who view the courts as a barrier to the creation of America as a Christian nation that follows Biblical law. Our new report details the history of the Religious Right’s opposition to a strong and independent judiciary and how their rhetoric is benefitting the Trump administration now.

TV Ad: PFAW First On the Air to #StopGorsuch

video
Following the announcment of the Gorsuch nomination, PFAW was first on the air with a TV ad opposing his confirmation. Our ad originally aired in Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and West Virginia. As PFAW President Michael Keegan stated, “We’re releasing this ad to shine a spotlight on the threat Judge Gorsuch poses to the American Way. We urge Americans across the country to call their senators and make clear that they expect their senators to stand up against Gorsuch, a Supreme Court nominee who prioritizes corporate interests over the constitutional rights that Americans rely on.”
