Okay, we need to talk about how The Meadows' lineup is straight for the second year in a row– but in a totally different (& dope) way.
Spring might've just gotten here, but we're already way hype for the summer. Outdoor bars. Outdoor movie screenings. Outdoor art installations. Who else is seeing a trend? The applications for Coney Island's annual Mermaid Parade are also open, so grab your glitter. Did you get a chance to try Starbucks' limited time Frappuccino? If not, you're in luck, because apparently the recipe originated at this Brooklyn café... don't worry, they're suing.ICYMI, women and their allies around the country have organized sit-ins today to fight for their rights– this is how you can join them. We can't blame you for wanting to jump ship right TBH, so how about a luxe Croatian Vacation on our dime?
Back for round 2, the Meadows Music & Arts Festival is stepping up its game. Whether you’re a hip hop head or indie rock fanatic, we can guarantee you won’t be disappointed with this year’s lineup. If the festival is anything like last year, we can also guarantee a dope food lineup. A few of the big names headlining this one include Jay Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Gorillaz. But trust us, there are so many more amazing artists this lineup. READ MORE…
If you’ve ever been at Coney Island for the mermaid parade, you know just how crazy this shit gets. People of all ages, shapes, and sizes dress up in their best nautical attire. And yes, you can be a part of the shenanigans as well. If you have no shame and $30 in your wallet, you can apply to be a marcher in the parade. Just don’t be surprised when you see glitter all over your bathtub. READ MORE…
Feminist activism doesn’t end with the international women’s march. In fact, organizers of the event have been setting up events and protests since the march in January. This next one is actually today. In light of the 6 month mark since the presidential election, women’s rights activists are holding sit-ins and walkouts all over the world. Even if you can’t join a sit-in, you can get involved in other ways. Yes, we’re nasty, and no, us nasty gals aren’t holding back. READ MORE…
Sometimes after being a New Yorker for so long you forget that other places exist outside of the NYC metropolitan area. More specifically, beautiful places like Croatia. And since we get the struggle, we’re giving away a $2,500 vacation to Croatia at no cost to you. You and a friend will get 4 days and 5 nights in paradise, feasting on complimentary breakfast brunches each and every morning. You deserve this, fam. Treat yo’ self. READ MORE…
Now you can really compete with the plastic bucket drummer across the street. Sing for Hope, a nonprofit striving to make music accessible for all New Yorkers, is once again placing its infamous vibrantly-colored pianos across the five boroughs this summer. The pianos are designed by big names like Kate McKinnon, Roberta Flack, and more. Once the installation comes to a close, the pianos will find new homes in various NYC public schools. New York City’s about to become a whole lot more musical. READ MORE…
F*ck those ridiculously overpriced AMC movie tickets. We’ve got a better idea. Head on over to Hudson River Park this summer for all of your must-watch movie itches. Grab a blanket, a few friends, and enjoy that sweet, sweet summer breeze. And since no one is checking your bag at the door, you can bring in all of the cheap popcorn and camouflaged flasks your heart desires. Date night made. READ MORE…
May we suggest a few bars to hit this month? Ha, see what we did there? All jokes aside though, we’re pretty hyped to spend happy hour outdoors in this gorgeous spring weather. Nothing screams “spring is here” more than sipping on a glass of sangria while floating on the polluted Hudson river. We’re still a fan of rooftop bars, but this year’s floating bars are seriously catching our attention. Whether you’re a land or sea lover though, from rooftops to floating barges, we’ve got your drink fix. READ MORE…
Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappe’s life may have ended, but its legacy lives on. And especially so in the courtroom. The End, a Williamsburg café, is suing the coffee giant for stealing their “Unicorn Latte.” They claim that not only did the chain know about the idea, but that they designed the “size and scope” of the drink’s launch to “eclipse the Unicorn Latte in the market.” I guess you could say they’re a little more on the salty side now.
