Respected friends,

Sign the petition: Help stop oil pipelines like Dakota Access and Keystone XL!

Last week, the Dakota Access Pipeline spilled oil for the first time. This spill came 22 days before the pipeline goes into full operation. It’s a reminder of the damage that pipelines like Dakota Access can do to indigenous communities, water and the environment. This destruction is only possible because banks like Citibank and Wells Fargo are funding it. So if we want to stop pipelines like Dakota Access, we need to cut off the money. You can help make that happen!Sign the petition: Cut off the funding for Dakota Access, Keystone XL and other oil pipelines!Donald Trump has made it clear that he’s going to keep ramping up his support for oil infrastructure. In the first weeks of his presidency, he advanced the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines.Trump’s actions were a betrayal of the Water Protectors who stood up for their water and sovereignty. These dangerous projects threaten the water supply of Indigenous communities. And they cut through wildlife habitat and ancestral lands. But without loans, bond sales, and other forms of financial support, pipelines like Dakota Access, Keystone XL, and others won’t be built. This is one way you can fight back against Trump’s extreme anti-environmental agenda.Join Friends of the Earth Action and a broad coalition of Indigenous organizations and progressive groups: Demand that banks stop funding fossil fuel destruction! We’re gaining ground in the fight to cut off the money for fossil fuels. After more than 700,000 people -- and cities like Seattle, representing over $5 billion in accounts demanded action -- a number of banks have dropped their investments in Dakota Access or committed to revisit their financing of fossil fuel projects that threaten Indigenous sovereignty.
Earlier this year, community members and their elected officials moved $5.4 billion out of banks invested in the Dakota Access Pipeline. Around the world, over 58,000 individuals and 700 colleges, churches and other institutions are divesting another $5 trillion from fossil fuels in general. But many banks continue to finance pipelines and other fossil fuel infrastructure like refineries and export terminals, as well as the companies sponsoring these projects. So we need your help to put a stop to it.
Help stop oil pipelines like Dakota Access and Keystone XL: Sign the petition NOW!
Standing with you,
Doug Norlen,
Economic policy program director,

Few sports cars have the pedigree of the Porsche 911. The nameplate debuted in 1963, and the basic rear-engined formula has stayed largely the same over 54 years. The one millionth 911 rolled off the production line last week, and Porsche celebrated by dressing it up as a tribute to the original.   Read more

Režim u Venezueli krenuo u sustavne napade na Crkvu

by Robert

TAKE ACTION
STJEPAN,

President Trump has launched an attack on America's national parks, public lands and oceans, issuing a drastic executive order calling for an unprecedented "review" of over two dozen national monuments. The President's real aim: to shrink or even eliminate these iconic wild places.

First on Trump's chopping block? The Bears Ears National Monument in Utah.

Of the 27 monuments slotted for review, only the Bears Ears National Monument was targeted with an expedited review process: The Interior Department is taking public comments on Bears Ears, but has given us just 15 days to make our voices heard in defense of this cherished wildland.

Speak out now: Tell Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to stand up to Trump and fight to protect Bears Ears.

Bears Ears is the first-ever monument created in partnership with Native Americans, and it was designed to give the tribes who have called this spectacular red rock landscape home for millennia a long-overdue voice in its management.

Rescinding the national monument status for Bears Ears threatens its 1.35 million acres of wildlands and cultural sites with oil and gas drilling, uranium and coal mining, tar sands extraction and other industrial dangers.

Make no mistake: this threat to Bears Ears is part of a larger effort to sell off America's public lands, parks and waters for fossil fuel development and to undermine the Antiquities Act itself — the bedrock environmental law that makes it possible for a president to designate a national monument in the first place.

The Interior Department is accepting public comments on Bears Ears until just May 27, and they'll be paying particular attention to the volume of comments that come in from both sides.

That's why we've set a goal of sending 75,000 comments from NRDC supporters like you to the Interior Department by that deadline. Can I count on you to be one of those supporters?

Make your voice count: Demand that the Interior Department permanently protect Bears Ears and other national monuments that are under attack by the Trump administration.

NRDC and dedicated supporters like you fought for years to win strong permanent protection for these national treasures — including helping compel President Obama to designate the Bears Ears National Monument just six months ago.

An attack on Bears Ears — or any monument — is an attack on all monuments. It's an attack on our historical, cultural and natural heritage, which are fundamental to who we are as a nation. NRDC will not surrender these special places without an all-out battle in the federal courts.

We'll be calling on you to add your voice in defense of more of these threatened monuments — but right now, the best way you can help is by speaking out in defense of Bears EarsPlease submit your public comment now.

Thank you for standing with us to protect America's cherished wild places.

Sincerely,

Rhea
