They’re unlabeled and the FDA hasn’t ensured they’re safe. Instead, the FDA is just rubber-stamping them.The FDA wants to hear from you about what it should do about new genetically engineered animals and plants. We need you to speak up!  Help us reach 20,000 comments telling the FDA to stop rubber-stamping genetically engineered food!The FDA approves new GMO crops like DuPont’s CRISPR gene edited waxy corn and GMO salmon -- without adequately assessing their safety -- using outdated and ineffective standards. It’s almost like these new GMOs aren’t being regulated at all.The FDA’s current regulations are irresponsible -- and they don’t work. The FDA overlooks major scientific concerns about environmental contamination, surprise toxins, unpredictable genetic responses and other unintended consequences.The result? The FDA has approved food products that could create new allergens, wipe out wild salmon species, create seed contamination and superweeds, and result in massive increases in pesticide use. The impacts of the FDA’s outdated rules on rural communities, the environment, pollinators, and consumers are unacceptable. FDA needs to do its job and protect our health and environment.Tell the FDA to regulate all new genetically engineered plants and animals.Companies like Intrexon and Monsanto claim that new gene editing techniques do not count as genetic engineering, even though they clearly are. As long as the FDA panders to them, we’ll have a voluntary system for corporations to self-approve new gene edited foods, with no independent safety assessments.Now is your chance to change that. But the FDA is only accepting comments until June 19th. So we need you to speak up NOW! Tell the FDA: People and the planet are more important than Monsanto’s profits.
