The fight over Trump’s massive cuts to the EPA is really heating up.
Trump wants to slash the agency’s budget by more than 30%. That will mean cutting thousands of staff. And it will starve the agency of the resources it needs to protect our air, water, and climate.  Attacking the EPA is one of Trump’s top priorities in his budget proposal. But his plan has to go through Congress. Already, more than 50,000 Friends of the Earth members like you have signed petitions telling the Senate to block these cuts. We're delivering the petitions this week, while Congress is home in their districts. But friends, we're still missing your signature.
Add your name: Don’t let Trump make massive cuts to the EPA! As the expression goes, when the cat’s away the mice will play. When the EPA isn’t watching, Big Polluters will ignore our environmental laws. Trump’s proposed budget would make it all but impossible for the EPA to enforce our bedrock environmental protections. The result? Big Polluters could destroy our planet with reckless abandon. This is a clear attempt to remake the entire EPA, and not for the better.
But Trump's plans need to make it through the Senate. With enough pressure from people like you, we have a real chance of stopping them! friends, your Senators need to hear from you! Tell them to stop Trump from gutting our environmental protections! Trump’s budget is just one part of his larger plan to hand over our government to Big Oil. He put Scott Pruitt -- who went on TV recently to deny climate change -- in charge of the EPA. And Pruitt is stacking the agency with fossil fuel industry lobbyists.  Meanwhile, Trump signed an Executive Order to eliminate the Clean Water Rule. He approved the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines. And he just signed another Executive Order to gut the Clean Power Plan.
The clock is ticking on preventing climate chaos. Our planet can’t afford a stripped-down EPA. We have to fight back. Help save the EPA from Trump and his Big Oil cronies -- add your name today!
Standing with you,
Ben Schreiber,
Senior political strategist,
Friends of the Earth
