1. THE DREAM ACT: WHAT AMERICANS NEED TO KNOW
Much of the media coverage surrounding President Trump's decision to end the unconstitutional and illegal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has referred to DACA recipients as "Dreamers." That term refers to the ill-fated Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act (DREAM Act) originally introduced by Dick Durbin and Orrin Hatch in 2001. Read more

Visa restrictions now have been put in place against Cambodia, Eritrea, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. The visa restrictions are tailored to get the attention of the foreign ministries by suspending visas for diplomats. Read more

4. NO, RESCINDING DACA DOES NOT CREATE NEW ILLEGAL ALIENS
DACA never offered any form of legal status to illegal aliens, nor does it protect them from future deportation. This is clearly stated on the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service's webpage for the DACA program. Read more

5. COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND - WHERE CITIZENSHIP JUST DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE
The College Park, Maryland, City Council has voted to allow non-citizens to vote in its local elections. The measure would allow any non-citizen residing in College Park - regardless of immigration status - to cast votes in elections for the mayor, city council, school board, etc. In so doing, College Park has effectively erased any meaningful distinctions between U.S. citizens and those who have no legal right to be in the United States.Read more

TP Exclusive: What’s really happening at ESPN

CREDIT: JOHN SALANGSANG/INVISION/AP
TP Exclusive: Earlier this week, the White House joined a chorus of conservatives who insisted that ESPN fire black SportsCenter co-host Jemele Hill for comments she tweeted calling Donald Trump a white supremacist. Publicly, ESPN issued a statement condemning Hill’s comments. Behind closed doors though, as ThinkProgress exclusively reported, management tried to pull her off the air and replace her with another black co-host. ESPN tried to spin the story, but here’s a look at what really went down.

The Republican-controlled Congress is once again contemplating a bill that would dramatically affect the Affordable Care Act. PLOT TWIST: It’s a bill that has nothing to do with repealing the ACA, and in fact could secure the Obamacare marketplace and help nearly 22 million people.

At least 20 transgender people have been killed so far in 2017. Derricka Banner is reportedly the latest.
The EPA told residents of Houston not to worry about air quality after Hurricane Harvey — a position they might have to amend after high levels of chemicals were reported near a refinery.
The U.S. House of Representatives quietly passed a spending bill yesterday that could turn churches into a kind of Super PAC.
