Respected friends,

Help us reach 50,000 comments: Tell the EPA not to gut our protections from toxic pesticides!

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is looking at what programs he can slash at the EPA -- and he’s taking aim at pesticide rules.Pruitt is looking to revamp how we treat some of the most toxic agricultural pesticides. And by “revamp,” we mean he wants to give Big Ag free license to drown us in their chemicals. The EPA is accepting public comments on Pruitt’s plan. The deadline is tomorrow -- so we need your help to send in 50,000 comments NOW Help us reach 50,000 comments: Tell the EPA not to gut rules that protect us from toxic pesticides!Pruitt’s plan would mean more glyphosate, chlorpyrifos and neonicotinoids in our food system. The impacts on bees, butterflies and our health could be huge.Glyphosate destroys monarch habitat and can potentially cause cancer. Chlorpyrifos is toxic and can harm children's developing brains. And neonicotinoids are driving massive bee die-offs.
Tell the EPA: We need to stop letting pesticide companies profit from destruction of our environment and public health.
Under Pruitt’s direction, the EPA could allow pesticide regulation to be grounded in corporate greed instead of sound science.
This is the opposite of what we should be doing.
Tell the EPA: Don’t give pesticide companies a free pass to pollute our health, our food and our environment!
Standing with you,
Tiffany Finck-Haynes,
Food futures campaigner,

Dear Food & Wine Reader,

At the beginning of the year, Food & Wine editors embarked on a six-month 45,000-mile odyssey dining at hundreds of restaurants in 20 cities across America. Here’s what we learned: eat more bread, do more day drinking and don’t ever pass up the chance to eat bologna. As our hungry team of roving reporters criss-crossed the upper 48, we were reminded that food ought to be as fun, as expressive and even as philanthropic as it is delicious. From a reimagined wine bar to a nouveau factory taking “housemade” to new heights, here are the 10 most magnetic restaurant openings of 2017.

Dear Men, Please Stop Saying Unsolicited, Insensitive Crap to Pregnant Women

We'd just met. I didn't even know his name. He was cute in an "I served in the Peace Corps and I talk about it to get laid" kind of way. He looked down at my swollen belly.

"You aren't getting an epidural, are you?"

It took me a minute to register that the man I had just been introduced to at a restaurant I was reviewing had actually asked me if I would use pain medication when I gave birth to my child.

I was surrounded by colleagues. I should have been polite, but something in me snapped.
