Aging Is Officially A Disease
by Jennie Ann Freiman MD
The search for eternal life isn’t new, but how far we’ve come from the Holy Grail, the Fountain of Youth and the hidden valley of Shangri-La, is truly a sign of the times. Today, the crossroads meet between the natural tendency to find an easy way out, and the seductive promise of profits. The quest is on for how to put longevity in a pill. Click to Read

Beat The Press

Everyone in Washington is keeping one eye on today’s special election, if for no other reason than to see if Republican candidate Greg Gianforte body slams anyone else before polls close. He responded to a reporter’s question on Wednesday night by grabbing him around the neck and throwing him to the ground. Republicans in Congress expressed mild bemusement, while Fox News ignored their own reporter who witnessed the incident.
It’s an extreme (and possibly criminal) reaction to the tough rooms Republican candidates are facing in their home districts, where voters want to know why the health care bill they passed will kick 23 million people off their insurance. One GOP lawmaker was even on the verge of tears when he realized what was in the bill — that he helped write.

The diplomatic snafus are still rolling in from Donald Trump’s first trip abroad as president. The latest incidents? After leaking sensitive information about the Manchester terrorist attack and angering the British government, Trump gave a speech at NATO headquarters insulting the country’s closest allies. No wonder countries are rethinking how they share intelligence information with the United States.

The CBO announced that the latest version of Trump care would cost 23 million people their health insurance.
Here is how USA Today, the nation’s largest newspaper by circulation, covered the news:
This is exactly why we need strong, progressive journalism to tell people the truth about what’s happening in the country.
Health care was just the opening salvo of the Trump agenda. He proposed a budget this week that would devastate the most vulnerable — children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
ThinkProgress reports the unvarnished facts every day, and we reach millions of people every month.
But we can only do it with your help. Support the Trump Investigative Fund so we can do even more. If you kick in $40 we’ll send you this now iconic shirt.
To give another amount — or just to donate without a shirt — click HERE.
We launched the Trump Investigative Fund earlier this year. With reader support, here is a sampling of what we’ve been able to accomplish:
A ThinkProgress reporter exclusively obtained the secret studies that Trump was using to support his wild assertions about voter fraud, which he claims tipped the popular vote to Hillary Clinton. We exposed that these studies were deeply flawed and based on surveys of as few as 14 people. Our reporter confronted a key Trump surrogate and got him to admit, on the record, that he could not substantiate his claim that a million or more people voted illegally in 2016.
ThinkProgress was the first major publication to connect the dots and report that President Trump personally met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in April 2016. ThinkProgress also surfaced a wire photo showing Kislyak taking a seat in the front row at a Trump speech the same day. Shortly after the ThinkProgress report, the White House acknowledged the meeting between Trump and Kislyak, calling it “brief and non-substantive.”
Our exclusive investigation revealed that Kuwait, under political pressure, moved its annual event to the Trump Hotel. Our story was cited by USA Today as evidence of Trump’s corruption and “exactly what the Founding Fathers were trying to protect against.” It was also cited in the first lawsuit against Trump over his conflicts of interest.
We have a lot more in the works. But there is more we could do every day with your help
The resistance is a marathon, not a sprint. We can get to the finish line together.

You don’t have to let moving into your new home slow you down either.

50 Years of the Tefillin Campaign
Dear Friend,

This year we mark a milestone in modern Jewish history: 50 years since the Rebbe—Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory—launched the worldwide Tefillin Campaign. On the eve of the Six-Day War in June 1967, when many feared Israel’s demise, the Rebbe assured in no uncertain terms that a miraculous victory was in store for it. Simultaneously, the Rebbe taught of the salutary and transformative effect of every mitzvah on the individual, on the rest of the Jewish people and the entire world, and introduced a revolutionary initiative to help all men of 13 and older observe the Divine commandment to don tefillin In the years following 1967, the Rebbe added many additional mitzvah campaigns (like the Shabbat Candle Lighting Campaign) to this revolutionary celebration of Judaism and touched the lives of millions of Jews across the globe from all walks of life and levels of observance.
As we mark this special milestone, we welcome you to take a fresh look at the original Tefillin Campaign, as well as enjoy stories, insights and practical information on getting involved with this unique mitzvah and other Mitzvah Campaigns. (Some selected links to follow below.)
We hope you join us!
