O Majko, i ja želim da se s milijunima privijem uza Te

by Robert

Thanks for all you do,
The Daily Kos team

Wow, friends. This is just amazing: Daily Kos readers chipped in a jaw-dropping $1 million to take down vulnerable House Republicans who voted to repeal Obamacare in just over 24 hours after the bill passed.
Thanks to our friends at ActBlue—who set up special Democratic Nominee Funds to transfer money to Democratic nominees once they win their primaries next year—that is a cool $1 million that will go to Democrats running against 24 vulnerable House Republicans next year. But this isn't just about raising money. This is about sending a message to Republicans that voting to strip Americans of their healthcare will be met with swift and furious action—that passing this bill will cost them their careers and their majorities.
So, if you haven't already, please chip in $1 right now to each of the Democratic Nominee Funds targeting vulnerable House Republicans.

Keep fighting,
Michael Langenmayr, Daily Kos

EPI News—Our most important stories this week

Will new grads get good jobs?

In a new report, EPI’s Elise Gould and Teresa Kroeger provide in-depth analysis of the labor market the Class of 2017 will be entering. Looking at employment, enrollment, and wage trends among young high school and college graduates, the authors find that the economic outlook for young graduates is improving but that much of the progress has been uneven, especially for women and minorities. Read the report »

New book released this week: The Color of Law by EPI’s Richard Rothstein

In his new book, The Color of Law, EPI’s Richard Rothstein debunks the myth of “de facto” segregation—the idea that U.S. neighborhoods remain segregated because of income differences, private prejudices, or the desires of blacks and whites to live with same-race neighbors. He documents how federal, state, and local governments—with racially explicit intent—segregated American cities from San Francisco to Boston. Rothstein’s book demonstrates that the government’s purposeful creation of American ghettos created the context for conflicts in places like Ferguson, Baltimore, Milwaukee, and Charlotte. Order The Color of Law today »

The People’s Budget is the roadmap for a more equitable economy

Last week, the Congressional Progressive Caucus released their budget for fiscal year 2018, The People’s Budget: A Roadmap for the Resistance. In a new analysis, EPI Policy Center’s Hunter Blair finds that the Progressive Caucus budget would raise incomes and put the United States on a path to a fairer, more equitable economy. Blair finds that the fiscal boost provided by the People’s Budget would increase GDP by 2 percent, create 2.4 million jobs over the first two years of its implementation, bring unemployment down to 4 percent, and boost long-run productivity growth through public investment.
