Please donate NOW
Dear Friend,

I do not have to describe the horror and devastation that just hit Texas and Florida. Not only has there been beyond comprehension destruction and flooding, millions of people have been left without homes and those with homes often lack electricity. Unfortunately, many lost their lives and others have yet to be found. The emergency calls to first responders requesting urgent assistance far surpasses the abilities of local teams.

ZAKA’s UN-recognized international search and rescue unit is onsite both in Texas and Florida to help. ZAKA is one of the top rescue organizations in the world, saving those who can be saved, recovering missing bodies and honoring the dead according to their religious practices. ZAKA is known to have the needed experience to handle major disaster situations. Therefore, our teams have been gratefully welcomed upon our arrival to the disaster areas.

ZAKA's lifesaving work is paid for through generous donations of our supporters.
As the hurricane waters recede, we in Israel, members of the ZAKA team and all caring individuals worldwide, are praying for the best outcome for all those affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. As ZAKA’s teams go house to house, they hope to find empty homes because the residents managed to escape in time, or survivors waiting to be saved. However, unfortunately, we also expect to find victims.

One of the many needs ZAKA teams are fulfilling is the delivery of generators to those without electricity. Watch here as ZAKA comes to the rescue of a disabled victim of Hurricane Irma.

ZAKA needs your generous support now in order to do the job that only ZAKA can do.

Our professional teams require specialized equipment to save and find people. To do that, we rely on donations from generous supporters like you. Please support ZAKA’s mission and help Texas and Florida to recover their most precious possessions - their citizens - as quickly as possible.

Please donate generously by clicking here.

With Blessings,

Yehuda Meshi Zahav
ZAKA Founder

News that matters

The American Association for Cancer Research has shown that obesity is linked to over 16 different types of cancer. This study is a simple reminder that your health and fitness matter, and are ultimately the best (and cheapest) preventative medicine.

It looks like depression may be best treated by reducing inflammation. Scientists have shown that inflammation is caused by stress, poor diet, too much sitting, poor sleep, and all the bad habits you know of. By simply reducing what contributes to inflammation and allowing your body to heal, scientists are showing you can improve your mood, reduce DNA damage (hence aging) and lead a better life. 16 different types of cancer linked to obesity. Some types of fat secrete more substances that promote cancer growth. -Link

What we're reading

It’s easy to take for granted any type of inherited systems and technology that our ancestors created. This is long form article and story from Politico about what happened on 9-11-01. It’s a must read. It’s the first publicly facing story I’ve seen that presents how complex everything is, and how difficult being in a dynamic situation that is unfolding where communication is limited. Before we think about reforming existing institutions, it’s important to discover just how difficult it is to run them.

What we're listening to

Nature Sounds for Focusing
This playlist has everything from campfire sounds, rainforests, seashores, and country gardens. Find a track that matches the type of work you’re doing, and enjoy the background sounds of nature. Science shows that these noises help you focus on monotonous tasks.

What we're watching

Actor Gary Oldman has been called the “ultimate chameleon” for his ability to dodge typecasting and explore roles as a villain, hero, and underdog. This November, Oldman’s latest film Darkest Hour will be released. It’s the story of Winston Churchill’s rocky rise to prominence. Most people don’t know, but in the years leading up to World War II, Churchill was vehemently trying to warn the english people about Hitler. Back then, just like in our modern day, many people can’t stand thinking, so Churchill’s prophetic warnings got him banned from appearing on mainstream media outlets. Eventually, his warnings began coming true. Human history is dark, and most prophets end up dead. At least the United Kingdom had the sense to recognize and appoint a prophet as their leader.
