Fonts & Feelings: Does Typography Connote Emotions?

By Sophia Bernazzani, Monday, January 2, 2017 8:00 AM
Think about your favorite book for a moment. How did it make you feel when you read it? Is that part of what made it such a compelling story?
My favorite book series is Harry Potter, and apart from the awesomeness that is a magical boarding school, the font in which it was published may have influenced my affection for the series.

Help pressure your Members of Congress to stop Trump's terrible cabinet -- write a letter to the editor now!
Donald Trump has made his top picks for key political and cabinet positions -- and they are turning out to be nightmares. For EPA Administrator, Trump picked climate denier Scott Pruitt. When he was Attorney General of Oklahoma, Pruitt literally cut and pasted letters written by Big Oil onto his official letterhead in a bid to fight environmental regulations.   Then, for Secretary of State Trump chose Rex Tillerson, CEO of ExxonMobil. Tillerson led a company that lied about climate change for decades -- all while funding climate denial groups. And Trump chose Texas Governor Rick Perry to run the Department of Energy. Perry once vowed to eliminate this very agency. Plus, he is on the payroll of the company behind the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Congress can still block Trump’s extreme anti-environmental cabinet picks -- but we need your help to pressure your Representatives to act!

Write a letter to the editor of your local paper: Help pressure your Members of Congress to stop Trump’s terrible cabinet! On the campaign trail, Trump famously vowed to “drain the swamp” of Washington lobbyists, elites, and insiders. But it is clear that he is filling the swamp with the same well-connected influence-peddlers that have always dominated.  Trump is overreaching in a huge way. You can help shine a light on how outrageous, hypocritical and out of step he is.
Members of Congress care about their local press. So writing a letter to the editor is one of the most effective ways to show your Congressperson that their constituents care about the planet -- and don’t want Trump’s cabinet filled with people who want to destroy it!

Send a letter to the editor today to help block Trump's terrible cabinet!
Standing with you,

Vice president of programs,
