Stjepan -- Since Obamacare became law, more than 20 million Americans have gained coverage, and the uninsured rate is the lowest it's ever been.Before the law, people with pre-existing conditions could be charged exorbitant prices or denied coverage altogether. Insurance companies could put lifetime caps on how much care they would pay for if you got sick. And women could be charged more for coverage, just because they were women.Obamacare has changed people's lives, as families across the country have gained access to quality, affordable care.How has Obamacare helped you? What has it meant for you and your family? The Center for American Progress is collecting stories from Americans who have benefited from Obamacare. Share yours now. The law has brought about some truly remarkable progress, but that's not stopping some from trying to take it away. By meeting with people from different backgrounds, experiences, and skill levels, we can find out what is important to all of us and how we all want to be involved––this is the first step in preparing for the fights ahead. Now that you’ve let us know you’re interested in hosting a meeting for your friends and neighbors, the next step is preparing for your meeting. We’ve created a host guide to take you step by step through planning your meeting. This will be your best resource, especially if you’ve never done this before. Step 1: Access the Community Action Meeting Host Guide here. Step 2: Be sure to join Connect if you haven’t yet––that’s our online communication tool to ask questions, share your best practices and connect with other organizers across the country. Step 3: Once you decide where and when you are going to have your meeting, fill out this form with basic information about your event. Step 4: We will be holding a call for hosts from around the country on December 20. If you would like to join us, then be sure to fill out the form above by December 18! On the 18th, we will follow up with more information about the call. It's people like you who will make the difference for the fights ahead.
