Their Unrealistic Expectations Crushed At Last, Wealthy Millennials Now Shop At Dollar Stores

All About the Tubmans

It was a huge week for the wage gap. Ahead of the first-ever United State of Women Summit (which a few members of Levo were lucky enough to attend!), the Obama administration, private-sector companies, foundations and organizations announced $50 million in commitments, along with new policies, tools and partnerships to continue their work on offering more opportunities and education to girls and women. This included a pledge by more than two dozen major companies to make efforts to close the gender pay gap, help women learn negotiation tacts, new campaigns on care-giving and improve portrayals of women in media.  All of this is a continuation of Obama and his administration’s work. “Our country is not just about the Benjamin’s it’s about the Tubman’s too,” President Barack Obama told the crowd which included 5,000 women and men from across the country. What a Hottie

Good news caffeine addicts. Coffee is probably not going to give you cancer, but your cup of tea might. Experts from the World Health Organization’s cancer research arm said this week that there isn’t enough proof to link coffee as a cause of cancer. But in the same report, they warned that drinking “very hot” beverages of any kind could potentially raise your risk of the disease. Awesome. There goes your relaxing afternoon chai. But at the same time quitting smoking and reducing alcohol consumption is probably going to help you avoid cancer more than just drinking iced coffee all year round. Feeling Blue?

It’s finally summer which for most of us means lots of Rosé at noon with our Hot Pocket happy hour or a dinner. But this summer you may be trading in your beautiful pink hued wine for a very different shade all together. Get ready for blue wine. A Spanish company called Gik has introduced a new wine flavor and it is in the shade of blue and they are hoping it will be a hit with millennials. So, OK, yes you may be thinking this looks the wine smurfs would drink, but actually the color comes from an “undisclosed blend” of red and white grapes from vineyards outside of Madrid. But to give it that extra special blue hue they add anthocyanin, a pigment found in grape skin, along with an indigo dye. I love my wine and cheese with a little side of anthocyanin. Co-founder Aritz López said they “wanted to create something really innovative” because the wine industry was “missing a little revolution.” And apparently that revolution was food coloring blue wine. As long as I don’t walk away looking or feeling like a blueberry like the kid from Willy Wonka, I’ll give it a try. Rosé is so yesterday. And since you can’t drink hot beverages any more you may as well drink blue wine. (Related: What Successful People Talk About at Happy Hour)

An eight-member Supreme Court is preparing to hand down a judgment in Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt, a case that could legalize oppressive restrictions on women's access to health care. This would set a dangerous precedent, clearing the way for extremist politicians to place even more of an undue burden on women's health care providers, a clear attempt at forcing them to close.  When women's health care providers can't offer their services, it often leaves their patients with nowhere to turn. If the Court upholds these politically motivated tactics, we could lose decades of progress for women’s health care.  That's why we have to keep fighting for a woman's right to make her own decisions, as a matter of freedom and a matter of economics.  Sign now to say that you will always stand up for women's health care rights. Theologians Propose to Re-Write Catechism & Canon Law in Light of Amoris Laetitia

By Maike Hickson on Jun 17, 2016 05:00 pm
An article published on 12 June by kathpress.at — the Catholic news agency partly funded by the Austrian bishops — has received a great deal of attention in Europe. Two Italian websites — La Nuova Bussola Quotidiana and Il Timone — have both reported on it. So has the Austrian Catholic website kath.net. The reason for all the attention is that the article at kathpress.at includes several important [...]

Lies Are Unbecoming of the Vicar of Christ, or his Surrogates

By Steve Skojec on Jun 17, 2016 02:49 pm
I am absolutely fed up. I am fed up with being lied to, fed up with surreptitious manipulations, fed up up with casuistic non-denials posed as denials from the Iraqi Information Minister Fr. Lombardi, fed up with all of it. I am equally fed up with being told that I have to interpret things that [...]

The Cañizares Case in Spain is a Litmus Test for Pope Francis

By Maike Hickson on Jun 17, 2016 02:12 am
As has been recently reported in several media outlets, Antonio Cardinal Cañizares Llovera, the Archbishop of Valencia, Spain, is now under harsh attack from feminist, homosexual, and other progressive groups for having defended the traditional family and for accusing the promoters of gender ideology and of the “gay empire” of attacking the family. Cañizares said the following, for [...]
