Trump's Administration Just Moved to Kill Protections for Bears Ears

Help NRDC raise $1 million to fight back against attacks on Bears Ears and other national monuments. Donate to the Stop Trump Legal Fund today!

RESPECTED FRIENDS,

The Trump administration has just taken the first step toward stripping federal protections from the Bears Ears National Monument.

It's an unprecedented assault on our public lands and our natural heritage at the hands of fossil fuel giants, and we believe it's illegal — so we're preparing to fight Trump and his big polluter allies in court.

Please donate to the Stop Trump Legal Fund today. Help fund our legal fight to protect Bears Ears and other national monuments from the Trump administration's attacks.

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is proposing to drastically reduce the size of the monument, though we don't yet know exactly what those cuts will look like. Secretary Zinke also recommends changing — and most likely reducing — the vital management role of the indigenous tribes who have lived in the Bears Ears region for thousands of years.

But make no mistake: President Trump does not have the legal authority to abolish protections for Bears Ears or any national monument, and we'll fight any attempt to do so — in the court of public opinion and in our courts of law.

More than one million Americans, including over 90,000 NRDC supporters, have spoken out against Trump's shameful scheme to hand over these cherished public lands to the dirty energy industry so it can profit from more dangerous drilling and mining.

We're doing everything in our power to stop this assault in its tracks — but with more than a dozen NRDC lawsuits against the Trump administration already underway, we need your help more than ever to ensure that we have the resources we need to fully pursue this case.

We have until June 30 to hit the $1 million goal we set for the launch of our Stop Trump Legal Fund. Will you help put us over the top, STJEPAN? Make your tax-deductible donation today!

Thank you for helping ensure that we have the legal firepower we need to show Trump that there are no "alternative facts" in court. And thank you for helping us prove, in and out of court, that these lands belong to all of us — and we won't let Donald Trump hand them off to corporate polluters without a fight.

Sincerely,

Mitch Bernard

Donations will go towards supporting NRDC's Litigation Team and will help NRDC mount a massive legal counterattack to stop President Trump's assault on our environment.

The mission of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is to safeguard the Earth: its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.

How Space Art Will Get Us to Mars

Life imitates art.

Plant the seed of imagination in the collective conscience and watch the tree of reality take root.

That’s what Chesley Bonestell did in the 1940s, with his space art renderings for Life magazine. His Saturn as seen from Mimas shown above (Source: Bonestell LLC) took the public by storm.

America needed something new to obsess over after its victory in WWII. Inspired by artists such as Bonestell, America set its sights on space—on the Moon and the stars.

“NASA may have built the rockets. But it was artists like Bonestell who communicated in a visual language we all speak what space travel was all about. Art captures the imagination of the public in a way that journal articles and the spoken word can’t.”

Within 25 years of Bonestell’s renderings, the world watched in awe as American astronauts walked on the Moon.

Life imitates art.

Fast forward 40 years… Mars is this generation’s Moon. But who will be this generation's Bonestell?

It’s unclear whether NASA will be able to accomplish this awesome feat. It might be a private company, something akin to SpaceX, that takes mankind’s next giant leap.

But one thing is clear: it won’t happen without public interest. And the public needs someone to inspire interest in them.

NASA recognizes the massive role the public plays in space exploration. That’s why they’ve launched the NASA’s Arts + Mars Program. NASA got together some 30 poets, painters, and other artists for this project hoping to raise public awareness and interest for a mission to Mars.

The universe is full of paradoxes. The public feels like we’ve conquered space. Been there, done that. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. With each passing day we learn just how much there is still left to explore.

The scientists can get us there, but we have to want to get there. And we need artists to inspire that desire within us.

Rating  LOVE IT!
"I did the research and decided to give this pan a try. It is great. Easy cleanup and not as fragile as other pans."  -  Lisa
Rating  RAVE REVIEW FOR BLACK CUBE
"I gave a Black Cube to my daughter and son-in-law. They are "foodies" and have really nice pots and pans so I was a little hesitant. Lo and behold they use it all the time so I ordered one for our house. It works like a charm. It has a nice weight and works on my induction stove! There is something so convenient and appealing about a good quality non stick pan."  -  Libby
Rating GREAT PANS
"I've lost track of how many non-stick fry pans that have been ruined by steel utensils in our household. I just bought the 8" pan to add to the 9.5" pan we've had for at least a year. Both pans are good quality, and work as described."  -  Laura
