THANK YOU for all you do. -- Paul Tell Congress to stop the latest attack on LGBT people and religious liberty>> STJEPAN, Right now, the House and the Senate are reconciling the different versions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed by each chamber.Included in the House-passed version was an amendment -- the Russell Amendment -- that would allow federal contractors and grantees to discriminate in employment on the basis of religion. It's part of the overall effort by the Far Right to redefine religious liberty and change it from what has been a shield to protect religious exercise into weapon used to harm other people and deprive them of their legal rights.Despite this being a bill to authorize Defense spending, the amendment would apply across the federal government. Among other things, it would gut President Obama’s executive order prohibiting discrimination against LGBT people by federal contractors. It would also open the door to discrimination against any number of other communities. We cannot let the Russell Amendment make it into the final version of the bill.The House’s version has the Russell Amendment, and the Senate’s does not.
