We're suing the Trump administration to stop the Keystone XL — but we need your help. Make a gift now to help fight for our environment on all fronts.

Your Chance to Help Stop Big Oil's Keystone XL Pipeline
Donate today
We can still stop the Keystone XL — in federal court. But we need your help. Make your tax-deductible gift by July 31 and help NRDC reach our $250,000 goal.
DONATE
FRIENDS,

Right after taking office, President Trump invited the company behind the disastrous Keystone XL to reapply for a cross-border permit for this climate-wrecking tar sands oil pipeline — and weeks later, the State Department granted the permit.

This reckless decision by the Trump administration confirmed our worst fears: that our new administration is more interested in serving corporate fossil fuel interests than protecting our environment and the American people.

Since that day, Trump and his administration's decisions have only grown more careless, short-sighted and destructive. But our resolve to fight back has only grown stronger.

I hope yours has too, STJEPAN, because I need your help today if we're going to stop the Trump administration from bulldozing ahead with the Keystone XL.

NRDC needs to raise $250,000 by July 31 in order to stop the Trump administration's attacks and defend our environment on all fronts: Please make a tax-deductible gift today.

NRDC's legal team is leading the charge to stop the Trump administration's fossil fuel juggernaut dead in its tracks and hold the administration accountable in federal court for violating our environmental laws.

The Trump administration is not merely looking for loopholes in the law — it's ignoring the law entirely.

Take the Keystone XL pipeline cross-border permit approval. Not only did the Trump administration violate federal law by failing to conduct a proper environmental review, they broke the law by arbitrarily reversing the previous administration's own determination that the pipeline is not in our national interest.

If the Trump administration won't uphold the rule of law — or defend our environment — then we will.

Make sure NRDC has what it takes to fight back against the Keystone XL, the Trump administration and the dirty fossil fuel industry. Help us reach our $250,000 goal by July 31!

If the Trump administration is allowed to flout the law and steamroll ahead with this fossil fuel onslaught, we'll be headed down a dangerous path to ransacked natural heritage and climate catastrophe.

It's time to channel our outrage into strong, concrete legal action.

Please donate today and help make sure that NRDC can fight back on all fronts.

Thank you for standing strong with NRDC.

Sincerely,

Rhea

During your sailing holiday, it would be a shame to skip Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean and home to Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest and most active volcano. Also, who can forget about Cosa Nostra?

Panorama of Palaiokastritsa. Corfu, Greece.

Ideal starting point for your cruise is Sicily’s capital - Palermo, its cultural and economic center, located on the northwest of the island and close to the international airport. After a visit to the impressive Palermo Cathedral, you can indulge in a vast gastronomic offer in form of authentic street food, including the famous Sicilian cannoli.

Panorama of Palaiokastritsa. Corfu, Greece.

On the other side of the island there is a small resort town of Taormina, drawing tourists from all over the world. Apart from the exceptional view of the sea and Mount Etna, the town itself is a real joy to stroll, with its ancient amphitheater and medieval churches. It is also a great place for shopping or relaxing in the sun on one of its open terraces.

Town of Corfu, Greece

Further down south is the historic city of Syracuse, the largest city of the ancient world in its heyday; therefore, an inexhaustible source of places to sightsee, a true open-air museum. Not to mention the colorful nightlife it offers, with its numerous restaurants and bars open all night.
With so much to do, spending summer in Sicily seems like an ideal vacation, so book your yacht now and sail away!

Samsung is facing another burning scandal: conflict palm oil and the destruction of precious tropical forest.

Demand Samsung put an end to its partnership to rainforest destroyer Korindo before it's too late.
RESPECTED FRIENDS,

Samsung’s phones are not the only thing catching on fire. A Samsung subsidiary announced last week that it will be forming a joint venture with a Korindo, a company responsible for burning and clearing tens of thousands of hectares of pristine rainforest in Indonesia for palm oil and timber production.Samsung can’t handle another PR nightmare right now, as it’s working to build back its reputation following the recall of 2.5 million phones and as its CEO stands trial for massive corruption scandals in South Korea. The last thing Samsung needs is to be caught up in a scandal over palm oil forest destruction and species extinction. We have to act fast. The dry season is starting up in Indonesia right now, which is when rogue palm oil companies like Korindo set fires to the forest, so we must convince Samsung to take immediate action. Now’s the perfect moment to speak out and convince Samsung to drop the partnership with Korindo.Tell Samsung to stop its destruction of Indonesian rainforest by dropping Korindo.Korindo has already been steadily losing major global palm oil and timber customers over the controversy which has forced Korindo to put a temporary halt on forest clearance, but it can start the bulldozers again any day now. The 750 square kilometers of forests remaining on its plantations are at great risk — that’s an area the size of New York City.Korindo has systematically cleared and burned precious rainforest in the Indonesian provinces of Papua and North Maluku, home to hundreds of indigenous communities and threatened wildlife like the adorable tree kangaroo and the colorful bird-of-paradise.But if Korindo faces the loss of a major strategic business partner with a global brand like Samsung, it will send a clear message that deforestation is bad for business, and Korindo will be forced to call off the bulldozers once and for all.Tell Samsung to stop its destruction of Indonesian rainforest by dropping Korindo. For years, Korindo has been able to get away with clearing vast areas of forest because it's been operating in the shadows. But the partnership with Samsung puts the spotlights on Korindo and brings new opportunities to demand an end to these abuses. From smartphones to appliances to TVs, Samsung products are used every day around the globe. Consumers have a right to know that their purchases are not financing Samsung’s destruction of tropical forests and human rights abuses.Samsung is no stranger to conflict palm oil itself -- a recent field investigation by a group of Korean lawyers found Samsung to be land-grabbing, causing water shortages, utilizing child labor, and even bribing neighbors to spy on one another to suppress community opposition.

Dear ,
Help us reach 40,000 comments: Tell the EPA to restrict the use of bee-killing pesticides!
The bees are dying. Bee-killing neonic pesticides are largely to blame.  The EPA has the power to turn all of this around by taking these pesticides off the market. The EPA wants to know what the public thinks about two of the most widely-used neonics, clothianidin and thiamethoxam. This is your chance to push the agency to act to get them out of our food system.Comments are due July 24th -- so we need you to speak up NOW!  Help us reach 40,000 comments: Tell the EPA to restrict the use of bee-killing pesticides! The largest-ever scientific study of neonics used in farming just definitively confirmed that these pesticides harm and kill honey bees. This study makes it even clearer that we need to get these pesticides out of our environment and food system. The EPA can help do that.Tell the EPA: Clothianidin and thiamethoxam are killing bees and need to be banned NOW!The EPA first allowed clothianidin on the market in 2003 under “conditional registration.” This means the agency greenlighted this pesticide without receiving all of its safety data. Now that a large body of science confirms that it harms and kills bees, the EPA has no excuse for leaving it on the market. In the case of thiamethoxam, the science is equally clear. This pesticide kills bees outright or significantly shortens their lives. It weakens bees’ immune systems, makes it hard for them to navigate, and impedes their reproduction. Plus, this pesticide is long-lived. It shows up in our water, soil and even in our food.
Tell the EPA the science is clear -- it must ban bee-killing neonic pesticides now!
You can be sure Bayer is pressuring the EPA to do nothing to protect bees from these neonics. But we can’t let the agency cave to pesticide companies. They’ll do anything to discredit the science, all so they can continue profiting at the expense of people, pollinators and the planet.
We need to turn up the heat to make sure these pesticides are banned once and for all. The agency needs to hear from you -- not just Bayer and other companies making billions from bee-toxic pesticides.Tell the EPA it needs to do its job and protect bees and our food system from bee-killing pesticides NOW.
Standing with you,
Tiffany Finck-Haynes,

If you kick a ball on the ground, it will roll away from you – that’s pretty basic science. But mathematicians have found that a quantum ball would roll toward your foot instead. When a force is applied to them, quantum particles can move in the opposite direction, in an effect known as “backflow.”   Read more
