Sean, but not forgotten

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned today after an eventful six-month run that included some mind-bending lies, casual Holocaust denialism, and a general lack of interest in being a press secretary. Here are his top five moments we know we won’t soon forget.

As Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s connections to Russia continues, President Donald Trump reportedly asked his advisers if he has the power to pardon aides, family members, and yes, even himself. Has he forgotten about the Fifth Amendment? Regardless, Nixon’s Justice Department warned him that he can’t pardon himself. Not to worry though, the White House has a Plan B: Trump operatives are launching a media war against Mueller and his staff
ICYMI: Spicer’s resignation came after a disagreement with the White House’s new communications director Anthony Scaramucci — who may not have always been the biggest fan of his new boss.

Reading List

Hypocritical police brutality apologists are applying a familiar and harmful logic to the killing of Justine Damond.
The iconic motorcycle company Harley-Davidson just got a $15-million air pollution fine — originally levied by the Obama administration in 2016 — reduced by $3 million by the Department of Justice.
In Anchorage, Alaska the fight to protect its LGBTQ citizens has been fraught and long, and the city might be bracing for another battle.

The Daily Signal
July 21, 2017
Good morning from Washington, where Attorney General Jeff Sessions is taking friendly as well as unfriendly fire. Fred Lucas reports. The Heritage Foundation rolls out its Index of Culture and Opportunity, and Genevieve Wood talks with "Hillbilly Elegy" author J.D. Vance about it. What’s feminist rhetoric got to do with the transgender agenda? Scott Yenor links the two. Plus: Bob Moffit on big change to help poorer Americans in the Senate health care bill, and Hans von Spakovsky on why he wants to be part of ending voter fraud.
