Donald Trump is the first modern President to hide his tax returns from the American people. At the same time, he has more potential conflicts of interest than any other President in recent history. Until we see his tax returns, every action he takes will beg the question -- how is he benefitting personally? Take his nomination of Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State. Tillerson won the Order of Friendship from Russian President Vladimir Putin for his work making oil and gas deals. So why did Trump choose someone with close ties to Putin and the oil industry -- and no government experience -- to be our nation’s top diplomat? Could he have business ties to Big Oil or Putin that he wants to protect? Trump has a thin skin. He responds to public pressure. And already, more than a million people have signed the petition to Trump demanding to see his tax returns.
