Poštovane kolegice, poštovani kolege, potpisnici Apela za obranu dostojanstva akademskog života,

ovim putem htjela bih u ime inicijativnog kruga svima Vama zahvaliti za podršku našoj akciji kojom smo htjeli potaknuti vijeće Filozofskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu da preispita i ponovno odlučuje o potpuno neopravdanoj i neutemeljenoj, a po Fakultet i akademsku zajednicu štetnoj odluci da se našem kolegi, akademiku Mislavu Ježiću, ne produži ugovor o radnom odnosu nakon navršene 65. godine života unatoč svim ispunjenim uvjetima i objektivnoj potrebi za njegovim daljnjim radom na Fakultetu. S druge strane, htjeli smo upozoriti na praksu neargumentiranog i nasilnog nametanja odluka koje su obojene strančarski i interesno (u vrlo prizemnom smislu) na Filozofskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, a koje su u zadnje vrijeme tamo postale praksom. Nažalost, nismo uspjeli. Fakultetsko vijeće je velikom većinom glasova odlučilo ne ponoviti raspravu ni glasovanje o akademiku Ježiću premda je to bila službeno urudžbirana i propisno predložena točka dnevnog reda redovite sjednice Fakultetskog vijeća na traženje njegova matičnog Odsjeka za indologiju i dalekoistočne studije. Moramo sa žalošću reći da je rasprava koja se pritom povela, a u kojoj je sudjelovao veoma mali broj kolega koji su bili protiv ponovnog odlučivanja, bila ispod prihvatljive razine u smislu argumenata, verbalizacije, tona i svih ostalih aspekata komunikacije, a da je akademik Ježić - kao i oni malobrojni među nama koji su ukazivali na neopravdanost takve odluke i neodrživost života u akademskoj zajednici u kojoj bi takva praksa postala redovita - bio izložen  vulgarnim komentarima onih koji zapravo ni izbliza ne znaju dovoljno o njegovim ukupnim zaslugama za hrvatsku akademsku zajednicu i za znanost, pa ni o osnovnim načelima ophođenja u akademskoj zajednici, a neka mi bude dopušteno reći, ni u uljuđenom društvu. Posebno je bilo žalosno gledati kako predstavnici studenata u Fakultetskom vijeću onemogućuju studentice Odsjeka za indologiju da iznesu potporu svom profesoru. Sve to pokazuje da je naš apel, nažalost, bio opravdan kao što je bila opravdana i bojazan onih kolegica i kolega koji su nam izrazili podršku, ali su molili da njihovo ime ostane zakriveno da u trenutku vlastitog promaknuća ili reizbora na vijeću u ovome sastavu ne bi doživjeli sudbinu profesora Ježića. Držimo da iz činjenice da apel nije postigao konkretnu svrhu, zbog čega smo tužni i ojađeni, proizlazi obveza  da ne posustanemo u osnaživanju hrvatske akademske zajednice, da širimo svijest o tome da se ona na nekim svojim dijelovima urušava do neprepoznatljivosti te da potičemo na otpor takvim pojavama.
