SIGN THE DECLARATION OF PEACE

From all around the globe, nearly 50,000 people, including you, have signed this statement:
I understand that wars and militarism make us less safe rather than protect us, that they kill, injure and traumatize adults, children and infants, severely damage the natural environment, erode civil liberties, and drain our economies, siphoning resources from life-affirming activities. I commit to engage in and support nonviolent efforts to end all war and preparations for war and to create a sustainable and just peace.
Anyone inclined to can sign it here: http://worldbeyondwar.org/individual
In each of 143 countries, somewhere between 1 and several thousand people have signed. The purpose of the statement is to begin organizing a truly global movement. But certain countries are missing. Let’s resolve to add them to the map in 2017.Obviously there exists at least one person in Venezuela and in Cuba and in Honduras and in Haiti and the Dominican Republic who wants to end all war. As in most countries, it is likely that most people in those countries want to do so. But who will be the first to put their name down Organizations can sign too, and several hundred have done so at: http://worldbeyondwar.org/organizationCan we find signers who will sign online or on hardcopy in Algeria, Libya, Western Sahara, Mali, Eritrea, Mauritania, Liberia, Chad, Angola? What about in Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, North Korea, or Papua New Guinea?Beyond adding a single signer in each of these places, we want to add volunteer leaders who will join the global coordination of educational and activist efforts to rid our species of the disease of militarism before it rids the planet of us. In 143 countries people have already signed and in a growing list have become active. World Beyond War now has country coordinators all over the world and is hiring paid staff to begin in January and work with them to accelerate our growth and intensify our activities.Do you know anyone in any of the missing countries? Can you ask them to sign?Do you know anyone who might know anyone who might know anyone in any of the missing countries? Can you ask them to sign? Can you bring sign up sheets to any events you organize or attend in 2017 and ask everyone to sign, then mail them in (or photograph and email them in)? This is how we’ll grow. And this growth combined with the power of our message will change the world.
Sign the Declaration of Peace.

The Brief: You Are Going To Be All About Purple Food, Algae and Clean Sleeping in 2017

She's a Cool Mom
Go Moms! According to a new report, almost two-thirds of mothers in the U.S. were the primary, sole, or co-breadwinners for their families in 2015. The Center for American Progress found that only 65.5 percent of families with children in 2015 had married parents and 26.4 percent were led by single mothers. It was found that 42 percent of mothers were the primary or sole breadwinners for their family that year (defined as bringing in half the income for the family) while 22.4 percent of mothers brought in between 25 and 49 percent of the earnings for their families.  Moms who had higher levels of education were more likely to be breadwinners or co-breadwinners, and then  young and lower-income women were more likely to be the primary or sole source of their family’s earnings. Interestingly West Coast moms were the least likely to be breadwinners unlike Midwest moms who were most likely. Black and Latina mothers were more likely than white mothers to serve as the primary or sole breadwinner.

Exit Strategy
Bobbi Brown, whose name is basically synonymous with makeup and style, is leaving her label after 25 years. Brown said it was this major anniversary that "made me realize it was time to start a new chapter and move on to new ventures." In a statement, she said, "I am thankful for the extraordinary people that I've had the privilege to work with over the years and proud of the creative endeavors and innovative products we've created together and the Lauder family for the many opportunities they gave me." Brown is known for her signature natural looking makeup which helped build her multimillion dollar business which later was acquired by Estee Lauder. In the last few years she has spread her business wings with a role as the editor-in-chief of Yahoo Beauty, opened a gym, and launched a new eyewear line. And it looks like she is ready to do this again with her next great adventure.

Clean Sleeping
We are about to hit a new year which means a whole new slew of weird health trends are about to come out. Apparently 2017 will be all about cauliflower, algae, tiger nuts, goat meat, watermelon water and purple food. That's right. Purple kale, purple carrots, purple cauliflower, purple broccoli and purple potatoes will be all the rage. Yes, it looks like you will have the diet of a troll but gosh darn't, it is healthy (antioxidents and what not.) But the biggest health trend we could see, which of course was brought to light by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow, is "clean sleeping." Is it showering before bed? Half way through your sleep? Sleeping on a bed of lettuce? Wearing pajamas weaved by the elves of the Norwood forest? No, it is simply getting a full nine hours (though that probably seems impossible to most) of sleep. So basically clean sleeping is sleeping. Apparently a magic nine hours will reverse the entire aging process. Not really, but it will help your skin, hair and prevent major hormone rages.  “The lifestyle I lead is based not just on clean eating, but also on clean sleeping: at least seven or eight hours of good, quality sleep—and ideally even 10,” Paltrow writes in a post for the Daily MailWho else misses the days when Gwyneth just acted?
