CITY OF ZADAR
Zadar is the largest city and capital of Zadar County. Zadar is a fountain of Croatian history and scientific heritage, and it is the guardian of literary and musical tradition. Zadar’s tourist attractions are based on a combination of culture and beauty as well as the possibility of making new discoveries. The city has an abundance of heritage of worldwide significance which is increasingly evident with every step. The church of St. Donat from the 9th century is a key landmark, as is the reconstructed romanesque church of St. Krševan from the 12th century; the St. Mary church-tower dating back to 1105, and the cathedral of St. Anastasia from the 13th century.
CITY OF SPLIT
Split is a UNESCO-protected city. This eternally-young city with approximately 300,000 residents in the surrounding area has a warm Mediterranean atmosphere, and has existed with its distinctive urban rhythm for 1700 years. It boasts a wealth of cultural and historical landmarks, with one of the best examples being the world famous Diocletian's palace. The palace is the most important example of Roman architecture on the eastern Adriatic coast. It was built around 300 AD, with a floor plan in the shape of an irregular quadrangle. The Pristil is the name of the central open space in the palace. Split’s mild climate, a result of 2700 hours of sunshine per year, makes it an oasis even in mid-winter, where you can enjoy the sun on the harbour front.
