Bells Are Ringing
A new study finds that Millennials are becoming grownups, and not just technology-addicted workaholics. They’re getting married and having kids, too. Outrageous! Anew report by Demographic Intelligence finds that by 2017, 63 percent of babies born to Millennial women will be born to married Millennial women. By comparison, that number was 49 percent in 2010. This doesn’t sound like groundbreaking news, but along with some other stereotypes, Millennials have also been accused of being marriage averse. “A lot of it really is just sort of growing up,” said Sam Sturgeon, the president of Demographic Intelligence. “It’s similar to most previous generations, I guess.” See, we’re not Peter Pans after all. Lefties Unite
It’s a small group of the population (roughly 10 percent), yet it’s a group that’s made quite an impact in the music, tech, entertainment, TV, boy crush, Disney-star scenes… you get the point. We’re talking about the left handers of the world, who get to celebrate their uniqueness in full-force today, which just happens to be National Left Handers Day. And since studies have shown that left-handed people are more creative, are better at multi-tasking, and have higher IQs, so maybe we should channel some of their awesomeness to combat the lack of uniqueness that us right-handers face. Read about these 10 successful Millennials who just happen to be lefty.
Cover Girl
It was just announced that Queen Bey will be the cover girl on Vogue’s iconicSeptember issue (see it here). Everyone knows the September issue is the most important issue of the year in terms of ad sales, fashion trends, and bug-squashing capabilities. But in addition to giving women back problems, this September issue is particularly important. Beyonce is only the third African-American woman to grace the cover on this very special month (Naomi Campbell and Halle Berry preceded her). In the cover story, Beyoncé talks about how she dominates the world, so hopefully we’ll get some good tips. The first one, of course, will be how you need a fan blowing your hair back at all times. Levo Loves…
This piece on why women should be in charge of everything, written by Stephen Colbert for Glamour. So many great quotes and insights all around, but here is a fav: “Why does this gender inequality still persist, and how can we stop it? I don’t have all the answers. And frankly, it’s sexist of you to think I do just because I’m a man. C’mon! Besides, it’s not my place to mansplain to you about the manstitutionalized manvantages built into Americman manciety. That would make me look like a real manhole.”
