Feds launch wide-ranging civil rights investigation of Chicago police

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday announced a wide-ranging investigation into the Chicago Police Department in the wake of an uproar over a video showing a fatal police shooting 14 months ago.

Feds OK civil rights probe of police

The U.S. Department of Justice will open a wide-ranging civil rights investigation into the Chicago Police Department after the release of video of a patrolman's fatal shooting of Laquan McDonald and police reports from the officers on the scene that conflict with that video, sources told the Tribune.

Happy Hanukkah! The holiday capped a somewhat quiet weekend on the news front, with the whole Western world seemingly taking a breather after what had been an incredibly difficult week. That isn't to say nothing happened, though. I mean, Kim K had her baby, for example (no word on a name as of writing). And 91-year-old Jimmy Carter announced with an adorable grin on his face that he's now cancer-free .
