On this Veterans Day, It is good to remember our nation's heroes. That's why I am highlighting the story of Samuel L. Davis, who earned the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Vietnam War. When his 42-man unit was attacked by a 1500-man Vietcong battalion, he refused to give up. After suffering a broken back and perforated kidney, he was not only able to repel the enemy, but carry three men to safety. He also nobly endured the ungrateful treatment upon his return home. The story is full of lessons that we can learn and incorporate into our lives today.

  • "You Don't Lose Until You Quit Trying"

The next story is also about soldiers, and the lessons we can learn from them. The life of the Church and the spiritual life of each faithful Catholic are ceaseless struggles. Sometimes God gives souls admirable moments of interior or exterior consolation, and sometimes He gives His Church days of splendid, visible and palpable grandeur.
