Homework

Want to work from home? Better make sure you live in one of these states. FlexJobs has identified the top 10 states with the highest number of state-basedtelecommuting job listings in 2015. Yes, anyone with a computer and a strong Wifi connection can work remotely but geography does play a role. For the second year in a row, California, Texas and New York lead the states with the highest number oftelecommuting job postings. North Carolina and Massachusetts replaced Arizona and New Jersey among the top ten states for telecommuting jobs compared to 2014. The study also found that the national yearly average of personal savings pertelecommuter is approximately $10,500. The typical telecommuter, according to data from the U.S. Census, is a 49 year-old, college educated, salaried non-union employee in a management or professional role who earns $58,000 a year, and works for a company with more than 100 employees. Not So Sweet Dreams

It is a major bummer if you have nightmares on a regular basis as they are often not very pleasant. But on the plus side, they may make you more creative! Psychology PhD candidate Michelle Carr, who studies dreams at the University of Montreal’s Center for Advanced Research in Sleep Medicine, wrote in New Sciencethat people who have nightmares tend to be better at thinking outside of the box. She wrote, “People who have a lot of nightmares experience a dreamlike quality to their waking thoughts. And this kind of thinking seems to give them a creative edge. For instance, studies show that such people tend to have greater creative aptitude and artistic expression.” So your life may be Nightmare on Elm Street but by gosh you are kicking ass at work! Fur Baby

Good news pet parents and aspiring pet parents. You may soon be able to take a pet maternity leave or “paw-ternity” leave. How cute is that?! In England, some companies are now offering “paw-ternity” leave to give pet parents time to bond with their new “babies.” This country already gives women 39 weeks of paid maternity leave so we aren’t surprised by this awesome  move.  Just like regular parental leave, “paw-ternity” leave is paid. It can be as short as a few hours to a couple of months, depending on the company’s policy and the needs of the pet. As the proud owner of a high maintenance but loveable Yorkie, this would have been very welcomed by me when he was a puppy as one of his favorite habits included running laps for 20 minutes and then serenading me with barking at 3 am every night.
