Game Changer

If you’re anything like me then you spend a good chunk of your day deleting emails to keep your inbox at a controllable level—and it’s super tedious. But now those brilliant people over at BuzzFeed have discovered something besides 86 things you didn’t know you could do with candy corn. They found an amazing iPhone hack that will make your life so much better. Read all about it here. (Related: Subject Lines That Will Get Your Emails Read

He? She? Who Cares?

The amazing Sandra Bullock is on the cover of Glamour this month and is talking about her new film Our Brand Is In Crisis. She plays a very driven, brilliant political consultant, which sounds pretty normal, except the role was originally written for a man. But this is Sandra Bullock and she can do anything, so why not make the role for a female? “I did as my mother did: I put my blinders on and blazed forward. Sometimes you get a no. But I expect the no. I don’t expect the yes,” she told the mag. Not that Sandy doesn’t get a little scared sometimes. She admitted she was nervous about proposing the change, but when her pal and producer of the film George Clooney said he was cool with it, she knew it would work. “I mean, it was so beautifully written for a man. It wasn’t one of those things where you go, ‘Hmm, how do we change it to a woman?’ You just change the sex; that was pretty much it. She’s human. She deals with addiction; she deals with mental illness. She’s brilliant at what she does, and she gets lost in the fact that all she cares about is a win.” (Related: What Sandra Bullock Would Tell Her High School Self)

Must-See TV

We all have our go-to guilty pleasure shows, but hopefully you balance those rich housewives with some critically acclaimed TV. As it turns out, those high quality shows like Mad Men and The Good Wife help make you a better person. According to a new study, watching good TV makes you more empathetic (and also really good at bar trivia). In other words, watching TV is good for you (excuse me while I go and say I told you so to my mom). In the study they asked 100 people to watch a drama or a nonfiction program and then take a test used to study emotional intelligence. Well, it was the group that got to watch The West Wing and Mad Men over Shark Week that fared better on the test. So basically remember this study any time you find yourself feeling bad about binge-watching a great show. (Related: 11 Easy Ways to Boost Your Concentration)

While the debate over gun control rages, one school has taken its own steps to prevent mass shootings: a high-tech security system that includes military technology, bullet-deflecting doors, and smoke cannisters. The U.S. and 11 other countries reached an agreement on the Trans-Pacific Trade (TPP) agreement yesterday, but environmentalists are saying the deal is a disaster for climate change. And, bonus: political candidates ranked by their supporters' rate of grammar mistakes.
How Indiana Is Tackling Mass Shootings Without Gun Control
Yet another gun massacre has rocked an American learning institution, the 45th school shooting to take place this year. And on both sides of the political spectrum, the responses have been as predictable as the shooting itself — the left argues for gun control; the right argues for more guns. ...(read more)
